BEACHES

Visit (520 times)

Beaches along the Bay of San Antonio, Ibiza (Sant Antoni)
In the lovely wide Bay of San Antonio you're never far from a beach; five small ones are within short walking distance from either end. In fact a favourite way to start - or end - the day, is a stroll along the shoreline path connecting the beaches that all have bars open 'til late.

Each small beach has its own character and atmosphere, so you may like to try a couple of them before deciding which is your favourite.

You can also take a ferry boat to one of the nearby beaches, such as Cala Conta or Cala Bassa. They depart hourly from many landing points along the bay and from San Antonio marina.

Around the Bay
Es Puet beach (Es Pouet)
Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, shower, lifeguard, access for the disabled, bars, shops
Activities: Pedaloes, water ski, banana boat

As you walk around the bay from San Antonio the first small beach you come to is Es Puet. It's a sweep of fine golden sand and shallow water that is perfect for children to play safely in.

Tip: The small jetty by Es Puet snack bar is a great place from which to fish...or, if you prefer, to feed them bread!

Facilities: Well served by three snack bars. Across the road you'll find a further selection of bars and shops. A ferry boat service operates to San Antonio and other beaches. Showers on the beach.

Getting there: Walk along the promenade from San Antonio or along the road around the bay. Parking is non existent.

Playa S'Estanyol
Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, restaurant, bars
Activities: Pedaloes, watersports, banana boat

Walking further round the small headland you'll find the 2 coves that make up the beach of S'Estanyol. Both have small sandy beaches leading to shallow waters and a good choice of watersports.

Facilities: On the smaller cove there's a beach bar often specialising in BBQ's in the summer months. The latter beach has access to a restaurant and bar through a short alleyway. The ferry to San Antonio and other beaches can also be caught here from the small jetty.

A short walk further on brings you to another small beach which has a kiosko beach bar and a popular snack bar with a terrace overlooking the bay.

Playa Pinet
Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, restaurant, supermarket
Activities: Pedaloes, waterski, banana boat

Playa Pinet is the next beach round the bay and the ferry boat goes directly there from San Antonio to save walking! The sand is soft and the water shallow.

Facilities: A good beach restaurant - ideal for lunch, and two bars. A small supermarket is easily reached in a side street running up from the beach.

Playa Xinxo (Playa Bella)
Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, showers, beachbar, bars, shops, lifeguards, access for the disabled
Activities: Pedaloes, watersports, banana boat

Finally the last beach in the bay is Playa Xinxo but everyone knows it as Playa Bella beach, named after the apartment complex that overlooks it. It's a golden curve of sand which shelves gently in calm waters; great for the kids or lolling about on a lilo!

Facilities: small complex at the back of the beach has a range of shops and bars. On the beach is a small kiosko bar selling cool drinks. The ferries to San Antonio and to the bays of the west coast also leave from the small jetty.
